    After a name change and a little rebranding Marca Negra is back and as true as ever to its mission of bringing traditional mezcals to the world. Made at a traditional palenque in San Luis Del Rio using a tiny, rare and wild species, tobalá. This wild agave is small, low yielding but very high in sugar. They take an unusually long time to mature especially considering their size, however they pack a lot of character and an unmistakable flavor.

    Mezcal Marca Negra Tepeztate 70cl

    Marca Negra produces mezcal in a variety of different regions with diverse agave species and mezcaleros. Their tepeztate is made in San Luis del Rio, Tlacolula, Oaxaca from wild 100% agave marmorata (tepeztate) that were 25-30 years old. The mezcalero is Jorge Véndez Ramirez, who chose a double distillation in copper pot stills, bottled with no additional aging. Produced in limited quantities.

    Mezcal Marca Negra Dobadan 70cl

    Distilled from wild-grown Dobadán agave plants, this mezcal hails from Oaxaca, in the southern part of Mexico. Double-distilled in copper pot-stills by master mezcalero Alberto Ortiz, the piñas or hearts of this agave average 8 to 12 years old before being harvested.

    Mezcal Marca Negra Ensamble 70cl

    Mezcal Marca Negra sticks to small batch, traditional production methods that have been passed down from one generation to the next.
    It starts with the hand-picked agave plants. The piñas (hearts) are slowly cooked in earthen pit ovens with mesquite-heated stones.
    The cooked agave are then crushed, usually by a large stone wheel and put to ferment with spring water in wooden vats. Fermentation occurs naturally through airborne yeasts, this process can take weeks to complete. The mash is then twice distilled to proof in copper pot stills.
    For the Ensemble bottling they blend wild Espadin, Madrecuishe, and Biciushe from Santa Maria La Pila and Miahuatlan in Oaxaca, harvested at 9 - 14 years. Double distilled in copper pots by Maestro Mezcalero Alberto Ortiz.

    Mezcal Meteoro Espadin 70 cl

    Gemaakt van 100% Agave Espadin die gekookt is in een aarden oven. Vervolgens wordt het met een soort molensteen geplet en vindt een vergisting plaats op vaten van cypresse hout. De distillatie gebeurd in koperen ketels in Las Margaritas, Oaxaca in Mexico door meester distillelateur Petronilo Rosario Altamirano.
